The new academic year just began. The blog is taking a new, fresh start and is trying to modestly re-invent itself. What will be the main changes brought about by the authors…? Let me please add a small supplement to Jens’ recent entry.
Suspense, suspense… Well, the authors’ team itself has changed. Last year we were four and a half (sorry Elodie, it’s actually not only because of your size); now there’s going to be three of us. Etienne and Elodie are taking a year off (ok, they basically chose to be out of the project). We’re sending them sincere words of appreciation and gratitude for their contribution. This means that Jens, Sébastien and my humble person are carrying on with the web log. Enough said about the people. Let’s say a couple of words about the blog.
Suspense, suspense… First, you should be informed that in August we convinced Margot Wallström and Mariann Fischer Boel to write posts for our blog on a weekly basis (just to have some nice first-hand info posted twice a week) in exchange for guided tours in Brussels with three handsome students. Sounds like a good deal, you will say. Well, it wasn’t! In fact, the above-mentioned Brussels tours were supposed to mostly comprise carrying of heavy shopping bags by the students and not so much visiting of hidden–from-the-tourists spots in Brussels. We still have some self-esteem so the idea of cooperation with the two ladies was eventually rejected.
Let’s now talk about what did or will certainly happen with this blog.
1° The focus of the blog will shift slightly more towards economics
At the end we’re economics students, so it sounds sensible.
2° The aesthetics of the blog was changed and will further be modified
If you didn’t notice the new look already, you’re either a newcomer or are so absorbed by the content of the blog that you didn’t see its form was changed. Don’t worry, neither case is blameworthy. In a couple of days, the banner pics will be replaced so as to provide you with some real “Brussels blog” feeling and… a more personal experience (we also can’t wait to see it!).
3° The periodicity of the posts should drastically (it’s the bridge burning strategy: you have to write it down to be sure you’ll stick to it) increase
Yuppie, that’s good news after 3 months of (almost total) inertia. Basically, the whole thing will get nicer and truly unique in terms of content and appearance.
Yes, we also think you deserve this.
